This 197 keys hotel was designed by Archgroup Consultants as an extension to the existing Le meridian Airport hotel. The main objective of the proposed extension was to increase revenues by tapping the growing MICE market in the region and also provide higher level of services and facilities to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
The central feature of the hotel is the 4 storey high conservatory at the main entrance. It is bound by water bodies, houses internal dining areas and spills over to the exterior dining areas. The Spa and the swimming pool with an infinity edge above the conservatory provide for complete relaxation.
The inter-relationship of the adjacent buildings and facilities were studied and incorporated for the smooth functioning of the complex as a whole. The proposed landscape, access network and services have been integrated with the existing systems to ensure continuity.
The existing hotel is almost 30 years old and other facilities have been added over time. One of the main challenges was to propose a contemporary elevation with a slight traditional touch that would stand the test of time and complement the existing building without overshadowing it. The proximity to the busy Dubai International airport also meant high noise levels which had to be kept out of the guest rooms by the use of acoustic glass for the fenestrations. On the whole, this extension will complement the existing hotel and add value to it.
