Tropicana Resort, Alibaug

This exclusive villa resort is situated on the outskirts of Alibaug. It has 30 luxury cottages and public areas like restaurant and spa. The public areas are placed at the entrance, which is an easily accessible node. The cottage plots are organically placed in the inner part of the site. The internal road network is kept simple, flows with the organic layout and in a couple of places exits into neighboring plots, giving the scope for future expansion.

The G+1 structure is planned with a bigger open space with swimming pool on the rear side of the cottage plot. The entrance to the cottage opens into a courtyard around which the spaces are planned. Overall the massing of the cottage is interestingly interlocked around central courtyards capped with sloping roofs complementing the heavy rainfall conditions of the site.

The contemporarily crafted spaces with stone & plain walls, wooden & stone floor, terraces & sloping roof doesn't look alien with the blend of vernacular architecture.

External landscaped areas like lavish entry court, party lawn with pool & gazebos enhance the grandeur of these cottages. The public areas are again planned along series of courtyards, to serve the spaces around and adding openness essential for the guest visiting this weekend getaway from nearby cities.
