This 222-key hotel for the 5-star hospitality brand Radisson Blu, has the tower placed centrally on a challenging odd-shaped plot with narrow frontage, instead of orienting it to one side, thereby creating a sense of openness all around. The resultant landscape is culled out with courtyards flanking both sides.
The building frontage is split into 3 parts - an 8m human scale elevation; a mid-level floating glass mass and a tile-and-glazing tower façade.
The ‘T-shaped’ programme with double-loaded corridors allows rooms scenic views of the Pandolini caves; whilst on the rear side, the hotel overlooks villa plots that once again offer a clean skyline. Both corners on each floor are converted into junior suites by including extra corridor space within a standard room grid, enabling the client varied avenues for monetising revenues and displaying the firm’s strong capabilities in massing and planning.
